The Challenge

The iKEON product range required a sophisticated electronics platform capable of delivering extensive smart home functionality within the limited space available inside a standard wall switch.

The Solution

Genesys designed the complete electronic hardware and embedded software platform powering the iKEON range of smart switches and power outlets.

Despite the highly constrained mechanical enclosure, the system integrates multiple advanced features, including:

​

  • Smart lighting control.

  • Voice assistant compatibility.

  • Power monitoring.

  • Temperature and humidity sensing.

  • Customisable LED illumination.

  • USB charging.

  • Dimmable lighting control.

  • Low-power operating modes.

  • Programmable timers and automation sequences.​

 

A key innovation was the development of an intelligent safety mechanism that prevents power outlets from energising until the plug has been correctly inserted, significantly improving child safety.

Apple HomeKit Integration

To ensure seamless integration with Apple’s smart home ecosystem, Genesys supported the product through the Apple HomeKit certification process.

 

This enabled users to control iKEON devices using Siri voice commands and create automated scenes that interact with other HomeKit-enabled devices throughout the home.The result is an intuitive smart home experience where lighting, appliances and automation routines can be controlled through a single connected ecosystem.
