Drone Lookout Module
Advanced electronics enabling autonomous
drone vision systems.
Genesys partnered with Swoop Aero to develop electronics for a key module within this platform, enabling advanced onboard processing and vision capabilities.

The Technology
Swoop Aero’s platform consists of the Kite drone, autonomous docking and charging stations, and a software ecosystem including remote pilot control and fleet management systems.
The Kite drone is a modular platform capable of supporting multiple use cases, including:
• Medical transport and logistics
• Disaster response and mapping
• Coastal patrol and surveillance
• Wildlife monitoring and search & rescue
With a range of up to 175 km and a payload capacity of 3 kg, the system is designed to operate reliably in challenging environments, including heavy rain and remote locations.
The Challenge
The Lookout Pod required a compact and high-performance electronics system capable of supporting real-time video processing and AI-based machine vision within a highly constrained physical space.
The system also needed to handle high-speed signal routing between multiple components while maintaining reliability under the environmental and operational stresses of drone flight.
The Solution
To address these requirements, Genesys Electronics Design developed a specialised Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA) for the Lookout Pod.
The PCA provides processing and power management to interface between the drone’s payload system and dual gimbal-mounted high-definition cameras. The design integrates a Jetson Nano module, enabling onboard execution of machine vision and AI algorithms.
Careful consideration was given to PCB layout, material selection and signal integrity to support high-speed data transmission within a compact footprint.

Genesys Engineering Contribution
Genesys worked closely with Swoop Aero to design and develop the Lookout Pod electronics, including:
• Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA) design and layout
• Integration of high-speed signal interfaces
• Power management systems for onboard modules
• Integration of Jetson Nano for AI processing
• Mechanical and spatial optimisation within a constrained enclosure
The compact design required tight collaboration between electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure performance, reliability and manufacturability.

Impact
The Lookout Pod enhances the capability of Swoop Aero’s drone platform by enabling advanced visual monitoring and AI-driven analysis during flight.
By supporting applications such as medical delivery, disaster response and environmental monitoring, the system contributes to improving access to critical services in remote and challenging environments worldwide.
Genesys Electronics Design partners with companies to develop safe, compliant and high-performance solutions.
