RF Circuit Design
Genesys offers specialist capabilities in RF circuit design. We can engage in complete front-end radio design at the discrete device level, or apply the latest integrated transceiver and system-on-chip devices. We have designed systems incorporating ultra-low noise transceivers with high sensitivity and ultra-low to medium output power levels for frequencies ranging from VLF to several GHz.
Genesys is experienced in the development of sophisticated RF systems such as systems employing direct sequence spread spectrum techniques, FPGA based digital radios, advanced forward error correction, and spatial/frequency diversity.
Genesys can also model, design and test antenna systems, optimise antenna radiation patterns and tune antenna matching networks to increase radio performance.
High Speed Digital Design
Genesys is experienced in the development high-speed digital systems with basebands up to several GHz. We know how to lay out boards that require differential, impedance matched, and propagation matched track work.
Genesys is also experienced in the development complex digital systems that incorporate large high-speed processors, FPGAs, video and communications processing ICs. We have been involved in the development of systems that incorporate Gigabit Ethernet, optical fibre and CWDM.
VHDL Development
Genesys offers VHDL design services. We can integrate third party cores and modules or undertake complete logic design. We have developed systems from small CPLDs through to large FPGAs (millions of gates) with clock speeds beyond 100MHz. We utilise a range of test bench and simulation tools, and is familiar with synthesis for most major vendor architectures.
Analogue Circuit Design
Genesys has a long history of developing products that incorporate analogue circuitry. We have specific experience in the development of analogue acquisition systems, audio equipment and telephony based products.
Genesys is experienced with general analogue circuit design that employs passive, active and digital filtering, class A to E amplification, and various sampling and signal reconstruction techniques. We are also experienced in the development of precision, low-noise analogue systems with noise floors down to -120dBm. We use Spice simulation software to comprehensively simulate and qualify analogue circuit designs prior to PCB fabrication.
PCB Design and Layout
Genesys is highly experienced in the layout of complex, high-density circuit boards that push the limits of what can be fabricated and assembled both locally and off-shore. We have developed boards with layer stacks up to 16-layers, blind and buried vias, micro-vias, fine-pitch devices, high density BGA’s and primitive clearances down to 0.05mm.
Our CAD libraries are extensive. Our footprints conform to IPC standards, are optimised for lead-free soldering, and are refined for improved manufacturability and reliability. We have a thorough understanding of electronic assembly processes and designs boards to aid production and minimise assembly costs. Our footprints have been tried, tested and refined through countless production runs. Verified CAD libraries include extensive component information to allow fully detailed bills-of-materials to be generated automatically.
Genesys also utilises the latest 3D modelling techniques during PCB layout. Our footprints incorporate detailed 3D component bodies (e.g integrated step files). We work closely with industrial designers and mechanical engineers to develop circuit boards with complex shapes and profiles, multiple interconnecting boards and that integrate perfectly with plastic mouldings and enclosures.
Genesys uses the latest PCB CAD tools from Altium and is a registered Altium design bureau.
EMC Consulting
Our solid understanding of RF concepts means that we know how to develop products that have minimal EMC profiles. Genesys conducts independent reviews of 3rd Party designs aimed at identifying EMC issues. We also test, analyse and correct non-compliant 3rd party designs. We own or have access to an extensive range of specialised test equipment and tools required to effectively undertake EMC investigatory and remediation work.
Compliance Engineering
Genesys follows a disciplined standards based approach to product development. During the first steps of our development process we conduct extensive standards analysis to identify and understand the implication of standards requirements on a product’s design. We then use this information to develop products that are compliant from the outset.
Genesys works with an extensive network of local and international test laboratories and compliance bodies to verify and approve products. We can manage the entire compliance process.
Genesys has extensive experience with Australian and International; EMC, Safety, Biomedical, and product specific standards. We also possesses and extensive standards library.

Production Engineering
Genesys has over a decade of experience in developing electronic products for low to high volume production. We have an intimate understanding of modern SMT assembly processes and use this knowledge to develop products that are optimised to increase production yields and to reduce production costs. This includes ensuring that designs incorporate facilities to support thorough manufacturer testing, minimise the number of required manufacturing processes, are relatively easy to assemble and test, and are reliably constructed.
As part of our standard development process Genesys prepares comprehensive manufacturing packages that provides everything a manufacturer needs to fully assemble, program and test a working product anywhere in the world. Our production packages are highly structured, easy to navigate and incorporate clear revision tracking.
Genesys conducts independent reviews of 3rd Party designs and production documentation aimed at identifying production issues and proposing improvements. We correct 3rd party designs and production documentation to optimise manufacturability.
Genesys works with an extensive network of local and international manufacturers and can manage the production process whether you require just a handful of prototypes or hundreds of thousands of units.
Genesys also manages component procurement and kitting and offers existing clients a ‘fast-turn’ SMT hand-soldered assembly and rework service. We have an extensive collection of soldering and rework tools, and a vast stock of components on-hand for development and prototyping.
Test Engineering
Genesys engages in a range of activities focussed on testing of electronic hardware and software. We develop comprehensive test specifications, conduct detailed bench level and functional testing and develop complete production test systems. Testing and test development form an integral part of our development process. We are also often engaged to test and verify 3rd party systems.
Test Jig Development
Genesys has developed numerous automated test systems and jigs to support high volume production for various products. Our test systems range from simple manual functional testers through to fully automated production systems, which incorporate jigs with integrated pneumatic control.
Genesys designs and constructs complete production test solutions including test hardware, embedded test software, PC based test software and back end databases.
Our most sophisticated test systems are literally ‘press and forget’. They are fully automated and probe the board under pneumatic drive, automatically load embedded software, allocate and program in a unique electronic serial number, then run automated test sequences designed to comprehensively test board interfaces and functions.
Our PC based test software solutions are sophisticated and perform functions such as controlling and motoring jig hardware, reporting individual and collective test progress/status and logging test results.
